QBP RICHARDS NOW ACCEPTING QUEENS GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS
Application deadline: Wednesday, March 4
QUEENS, NY — Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. announced today that he is accepting applications from individuals who are involved in their communities and are interested in serving as a Queens General Assembly (QGA) delegate for 2026.
The QGA, a borough-level intercultural working group, brings together Queens residents of diverse backgrounds for monthly dialogues and neighborhood actions that promote community service, leadership enhancement, coalition building and networking.
“The federal administration has made it clear it does not value diversity, equity, inclusion and immigration. But here in Queens, our strength is rooted in those three fundamental principles,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “Now more than ever, we need neighbors who understand the power of the immigrant story, appreciate the fight for civil rights and recognize the importance of meeting this moment here on the local level. If you have an interest in uplifting your neighbors, serving your community and making Queens a more inclusive borough, I strongly encourage you to apply for a spot on the Queens General Assembly this year.”
Those interested to apply can do so by clicking here, and the deadline to submit a QGA delegate application is Wednesday, March 4. Applicants will be contacted in late March, and approximately two dozen finalists will be appointed as delegates by the Borough President. An installation ceremony for the new cohort of delegates will be held shortly thereafter.
This year’s delegates will serve for the remainder of 2026.
Since its inception 23 years ago under the leadership of the late former Borough President Helen Marshall, the QGA has united leaders from all parts of Queens under the banner of community service and promoting the values of tolerance and respect for all who call The World’s Borough home. Examples of the QGA’s recent work include holding food drives for Queens pantries and organizing holiday toy drives across several family shelters.
Applicants must be Queens residents who are at least 16 years old and demonstrate an interest in community service and bridging societal divides.
For more information, individuals interested in applying can email Queens General Assembly Coordinator Susie Tanenbaum at [email protected].
